I'd like to organize a little poll as to proposed changes to YouTrack/Charisma query syntax symbols.
If you find
type: "Usability Problem" and :"Usability Problem" queries a bit more intuitive or easy to type then current
type: {Usability Problem} and #{Usability Problem} then please go vote:
Change query syntax: replace { and } with quotes
Change query syntax: replace # with :
Or, maybe you have better suggestions?

My suggestion is to rollback to original query syntax (without all those tricky characters), but introduce support for quotes (which would enforce text-based search) and for '-' operator.
